The first registered domain was symbolics.com on March 15 1985, by a company which designed and built special computer systems for developing and running object-oriented programs in LISP.
So, the first 15 registered domains are: SYMBOLICS.COM, BBN.COM, THINK.COM, MCC.COM, DEC.COM, NORTHROP.COM, XEROX.COM, SRI.COM, HP.COM, BELLCORE.COM, IBM.COM, SUN.COM, INTEL.COM, TI.COM, ATT.COM.

LISP? c’mon, LISP is so annoying. and yet, this info is quite interesting, but .. LISP??
why not COBOL or FORTRAN? i bet those are less annoying
